About our presenter: Dr. Douglas Munch is a results driven innovator and strong creative leader with a deep background in pharmaceuticals, medical devices and biotechnology. His varied resume reads like an adventure novel, and includes experiences with NASA’s Apollo program, the Navy’s F-14 fighter aircraft, and a veritable Who’s Who of companies operating in the healthcare space.

After earning a BS in Chemical Engineering from Villanova, Doug joined Grumman, where he contributed to four successful Apollo missions and ran the flight test and development program for the Navy’s F-14 fighter aircraft. Inspired by his work with NASA to explore human performance, Doug returned to school, earning a Master's in Mechanical Engineering and Biochemistry from UC Santa Barbara, and a PhD in Medicine and Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins. As a postdoc, he invented an open-heart research procedure to measure the distribution of coronary blood flow in animals, and while at Travenol Laboratories, developed a wearable drug delivery device for cancer patients.

He worked as director of health care new business development and life science research for Kimberly-Clark; joined a small biotech startup working in cancer medicine as president and CEO; and served as a vice president and board member for a division of Johnson & Johnson. In 1993, he started his own consulting practice, devoting 25 years to integrating medicine, technology and business for health care companies.
